Persons who achieve high results in this test are able to derive contiguous and correct conclusions from available information, which are presented in different ways (verbal, numerical and figural). KAPPA combines various cognitive operations such as processing speed and processing capacity and allows conclusions to be drawn about the level of individual intellectual capabilities.
Instructions
After an introductory instruction and several trial tasks, the KAPPA test is concluded in a time-limited manner in various formats: Gap text, free text and multiple-choice format (single choice from a set of 5 alternatives). Different task types are defined, whereby one item (task) is shown per page. It is possible to skip items, and to scroll forwards and backwards.
The procedure is implemented in liquid format: the tasks are drawn from a pool and arranged according to increasing difficulty, whereby test difficulty and subject areas are kept constant for all participants.
Theoretical background
Intelligence tests have the greatest predictive power for professional success – in every profession. No other psychological design has such high and positive correlations with work performance across target groups. Building on the psychological model of the cognitive performance of the Berlin Intelligence Structure Model (BIS), KAPPA is versatile (processing speed and processing capacity are recorded with verbal, numerical and figurative content), highly predictive and well accepted by applicants.
KAPPA is a good and efficient estimator of general cognitive performance and thus a reliable indicator of professional success for a large number of target groups.
